Bursa Injections

A bursa is a small fluid-filled sac that cushions the bones, tendons, and muscles near joints. Bursitis occurs when these small sacs become inflamed, resulting in pain. Common areas of bursitis include the shoulders, elbows, hips, and knees. A bursa injection is done by inserting steroid into and around the bursa sac to decrease inflammation and provide pain relief.  Depending on the location of the bursitis, this procedure is performed either in the clinic room or in the procedure room using x-ray guidance.
